FLUX - Official KLIMAfit Company
FLUX-GERÄTE GMBH was awarded as an official KLIMAfit company
What is KLIMAfit?
With KLIMAfit - a project according to the KLIMAfit funding guideline of the state of Baden-Württemberg, companies draw up their greenhouse gas balance with the support of Arqum GmbH and derive economically sensible measures for improving their energy efficiency and reducing their individual emissions. Participation in the programme is therefore not only worthwhile in terms of climate protection, use of resources and operational know-how, but ultimately also in terms of cost savings. The reduction of greenhouse gas emissions is the main focus.
Implementation and project steps
Over the course of six months, the participating companies will be trained by advisors in all climate-relevant topics within the framework of four workshops. In addition, external experts will be invited to report on current practice and new, innovative technologies in relevant areas. The individual counselling conducted parallel to the workshops forms the core of the project. At these meetings, an individual materiality analysis is carried out with each project participant, which determines the framework of the greenhouse gas balance. After the greenhouse gas balance has been successfully drawn up, the participants are individually shown, with the support of the advisors, the areas in which there is potential for optimisation in order to systematically reduce emissions and lower costs. These approaches are recorded in a programme of measures and, if possible, implemented during the course of the project and afterwards.
Greenhouse gas balance
The main content of KLIMAfit is the structural development of an individual greenhouse gas balance of each participating company based on the requirements and principles of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. The so-called Scope 1 (=direct emissions) and Scope 2 emissions (=indirect emissions) must be determined by each participating company. These include emissions from electricity and heating energy consumption and the vehicle fleet. The materiality analysis is also used to determine which Scope 3 emissions (=upstream/downstream emissions) are included in a company's balance sheet, based on the criteria of quantity, data availability and possibilities of influence. These include, for example, business trips, purchased goods, commuter emissions, transport and events. This results in individual balance limits for each company.
Project completion
At the end of the project, compliance with the required criteria is checked by an independent commission. All participating organisations receive an award at a high-profile event.
Result
Reducing costs and contributing to climate protection at the same time - this was the goal FLUX-GERÄTE GMBH set itself at the beginning of the cooperation in September 2022. FLUX succeeded in defining a large number of individual measures to reduce emissions and costs during the project period of just over nine months and was thus also awarded as an official KLIMAfit company at the end.
